Leonel García prepares "The Show": A romantic and successful evening for Guadalajara

Singer Leonel García is embarking on a new phase of his solo career. A phase where he has refined his style and matured his own sound—just like fine wines—after years of experience and musical exploration. This is a facet that the singer-songwriter will share with his Guadalajara fans through the "El Show" tour, where he will perform live the songs from his most recent album, as well as the greatest hits that have defined his solo career.
"El Show" is made up of twelve previously unreleased songs, recorded in sessions with a live band, achieving a warm atmosphere, a material that dialogues with the listener about the passage of time, love, and that featured collaborations with artists such as Natalia Lafourcade and Edén Muñoz . So here in Guadalajara it will be a romantic, poetic evening, without distance from the audience, an organic and handcrafted show that Leonel García is very excited to share with the people of Guadalajara, as he shared in an interview with EL INFORMADOR . A city that has always welcomed him with open arms in his solo projects.
"I wanted to leave people with new music and for them to have a new album to listen to. Fortunately, the right songs came out, and I managed to make an album like the one I wanted," says the singer. "But I didn't know if I'd be able to play it live, so I'm thrilled that we're getting to go to Guadalajara again, before the madness of the new year begins. It's a city that always gives me great pleasure whenever I go, because it lets me show them what I do solo, and I can grow with an audience that, fortunately, has been very nice. Being able to return excites me."
An intimate evening through his history as a soloistThe evening will explore Leonel García's career, both as a singer-songwriter and as a composer of melodies he's written for other artists. García will also perform live, accompanied by six musicians, songs from his most recent album, "El Show," which has been well received in several cities. The singer says he's satisfied with the musical concept: direct, a flowing sound, something the audience is part of: something real.
"It's a very organic album and show. There's no sequence to follow; we're playing everything live, and that makes me very happy. It's a show that's handcrafted; nothing's pre-recorded. The musicians play wonderfully well; they're all top-notch performers, and on their own, they're jazz and salsa musicians. A very solid band has been put together; you can feel it, and the crowd is enjoying it. I love the band. The truth is, they could do the show without me, but hey, I'll help them out there," he jokes.
In the creation of "El Show," Leonel García shared that the influence of country music has been a significant presence in these final seasons of his life. The way the music and lyrics intertwine with a poetic interweaving, as a unique way of seeing the world, has been a constant learning experience and a sound learning process in the way he has composed his latest albums.
"Country singers are storytellers, they're basically troubadours, and they're always telling stories of love, abandonment, the past, and family," says Leonel. "Many things have a very high poetic and synthetic level. Country has spectacular lyrics; you learn to convey a ton of information in a single sentence. And I think that from listening so much, it's become embedded in my music, in the cadence, the type of chords."
The singer-songwriter also emphasized the influence Brazilian music, American folk , and Mexican culture have had on him, his unique way of understanding Mexico, from mariachi and bolero to the pop of Timbiriche . "I think an artist's style is the sum of all the influences that have shaped them, of everything they love, and how, when passed through their own filter, something unique comes out, which is their style, the way they sound," says Leonel. "At 50, I can say that I'm still trying to refine my style and achieve a sound that's increasingly more my own."
The artist's creative processFor an artist of his stature, years, and experience, the creative process, however, is a state he enters with ease. It's a predisposition, a need to compose that comes from deep within him, an aesthetic restlessness, a musical itch. "I don't come with anything written down. I sit down with my guitar, and melodies that come with certain words begin to appear. That internal babble begins to give you shapes; you hear a certain word or a certain phrase in the melody, and then I begin to verbalize it, make it more conscious, and from there I develop the theme. Then the brain starts to say, we can throw this, this phrase, this rhyme, we can do it this way... that's more or less the creative process when I write songs."
Leonel García's "El Show Pausa Tour" will take place next Saturday , August 23rd, at the Teatro Solares GMM, located at P.º del Amanecer 460, in Zapopan . Tickets start at $2,200 pesos for general admission and $2,800 pesos for VIP admission.

"I want to invite you to listen to my most recent album, called "The Show," and to join me in singing along to the songs from that album and all my other albums as a solo artist, as well as many other songs I've written. It's a very beautiful, very intense show. Thank you for having me," the singer concluded.
